Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell states in a press release:
On Tuesday, April 28, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting that an individual had been shot at a residence on Mott Road, Mooresville.
Upon arrival, Deputies located an adult male victim seated in a vehicle in the driveway of the residence. The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound but was conscious and informed Officers that he had been shot by an unknown individual. Iredell County EMS transported the victim to Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital. As of thi release, he is in stable condition.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. Two adult females were inside the residence at the time of the incident. Through interviews, Detectives determined that one of the females fired the shots. Evidence collected at the scene indicated that the victim had brought the firearm to the residence. Investigators also located evidence of illegal narcotics inside the home.
Further investigation revealed that a physical altercation occurred inside the residence involving the victim and the two females. During this altercation, the firearm was discharged, striking the victim in the chest.
This incident remains under active investigation, and criminal charges may be forthcoming.
