Iredell County Man Charged With Multiple Offenses

On Saturday, October 25, Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Mocksville Road regarding a domestic dispute involving an active assault. Iredell Communications briefly lost contact with the caller, but before the call ended, the caller reported that the suspect had threatened to kill her.

Deputies arrived on the scene and heard a woman screaming about a gun. Officers made contact with the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Joshua Anson Orner of Harmony. During a search, deputies found a firearm magazine but no gun at that time.

Deputies determined that a woman at the residence had been assaulted. As they attempted to place Orner under arrest, he tried to flee and then assaulted the Officers. He was ultimately taken into custody.

A subsequent search of the area outside the residence led to the discovery of the handgun. Deputies ran Orner’s information through a national database and learned that he is a convicted felon with multiple prior felony convictions.

Misdemeanor Assault on a Government Official

Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance

Based on the evidence and statements collected, Joshua Anson Orner was placed in the Iredell County Jail without bond.
