A man armed with a knife was shot by an Iredell County Deputy Monday afternoon.
Deputies were in the area near Family Dollar on Harmony Highway. A press release says they were searching for a man after concerned family members had called 911. The suspect in question was spotted in the Family Dollar parking lot.
Officers approached the man and demanded he drop the knife multiple times. The suspect was tased but the suspect continued to advance, still armed with a knife, leading to the Deputy shooting the male subject. The suspect was taken to a regional medical facility.
The NC SBI is assisting in the investigation.
The Deputy was placed on administrative leave per department policy.
