Iredell County Bridge To Be Replaced Beginning Monday, August 25th

August 21, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

STATESVILLE – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will begin replacing an Iredell County bridge next week.

R.E. Burns & Sons will begin Monday, Aug. 25, on the $1.5 million project to replace the 63-year-old bridge over Third Creek on Wood Bridge Road. The new structure will feature wider lanes with a shoulder and no weight restrictions.

A signed detour will guide drivers around the closure using U.S. 64 and Island Ford Road. Work is expected to finish in fall 2026.
