HICKORY – The N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded a $4.8 million contract to improve nearly 21 miles of Catawba County roads.
Contractor Maymead Inc. can start the project anytime to mill, resurface and rebuild shoulders on N.C. 10 from Startown Road to U.S. 321 Business, about 2.6 miles. Any lane closures in this segment will be restricted to overnight hours.
The contract also includes similar improvements to 53 sections of secondary roads throughout the county.
The contractor has until the fall of 2026 to complete the project.
