A home was destroyed by fire this morning in Alexander County.
Wittenburg, Ellendale, and Bethlehem Fire Departments were called around 1:50 am to a mobile home structure off Garland L Smith Lane. The mobile home was destroyed by the fire according to Alexander County Fire Marshall Russell Greene. Greene says the occupant was awakened by the smoke and was able to escape without injury. The occupant was renting the home.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation but Greene says it is not suspicious.
