This morning at approximately 6:53 a.m., Iredell County Communications received a 911 call from a person claiming they had stabbed someone inside Troutman Elementary School, located at 220 South Main Street in Troutman, and that they were hiding in an upstairs restroom.
The school’s School Resource Officer immediately responded to that location while additional officers arrived to assist. Officers conducted a search of the school, and no injured person or armed subject was found.
At the time of the call, the only individuals inside the school were staff members preparing for the school day. No students had entered the building, and school buses were held until officers completed a thorough search and confirmed the school was safe.
This incident has been determined to be a hoax. Investigators are currently following leads to identify those responsible.
