A man has died after falling into the water near the Boone Fork Trail of the Blue Ridge Parkway, according to National Park Service officials.
Around 3 p.m. on Friday, April 18, Blue Ridge Parkway communications got a report of a hiker who had fallen into the water near milepost 297 which is located near Blowing Rock in Watauga County.
When park rangers and EMS arrived, they found the man, 40-year-old Jie Huang from Plymouth, N.C., and started performing CPR. Huang was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries from his fall.
No other details on the incident were released.
