Weather permitting, City Walk contractors in Hickory plan to set the steel girders for the bridge this weekend. Due to this construction activity, N.C. 127 will be closed between First Avenue SE and First Avenue NE from 6 p.m. on Friday, October 9, through 6 a.m. on Monday, October 12.
Additionally, the section of Main Avenue NE at the bridge site, between First Avenue NE and Second Street NE, is currently closed to thru traffic and will remain closed until this work is completed. Detour routes will be established and clearly marked.
The detour routes for N.C. 127 will be different from previous routes due to an active road closure on North Center Street. Drivers should use Fourth Street NW/SW and the one-way pairs to navigate around the N.C. 127 closure.
