Hiddenite Man Jailed For Violation Of Sex-Offender Status

Iredell County Deputies arrested 38-year old Michael Chad Rood of Cheatham Ford Road in Hiddenite on February 22nd. He was charged with violating his registered sex-offender status by being near or on school premises. Rood was also charged with felony probation violation and remains in the Iredell County Jail as of earlier today. Rood is a registered sex-offender after a 2007 conviction in Alexander County for felonious restraint of a minor. He served 16 months in prison.

Previous charges against Rood are pending in Iredell County for first-degree assault with a deadly weapon and felony first-degree burglary. In Alexander County, Rood awaits trial for charges that include felony elude arrest with a motor vehicle, assault on a government official,resisting arrest and a series of traffic-related offenses. He’s set to appear in Alexander County District Court in April.
