Hickory Police investigated a fatal traffic crash involving a single vehicle on Sunday, March 3.
At 11:25 a.m., a 2018 Ford Edge SE was traveling north on Hwy 127 South near 3rd Avenue SE when it crossed the center line, ran off the roadway, and stuck a light pole and a tree before coming to a rest.
The driver of the vehicle, Roberta Shuford Long, 83, of Hickory, was pronounced dead at the scene by Catawba County EMS. No other injuries were reported.
