Hickory- On Friday, June 5th, at approximately 08:40 a.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision on Springs Road near Kool Park Road, in Catawba County. A 1985 Chevrolet Caprice was traveling on Springs Road, drove off the right side of the road before colliding with a street sign and then a parked 2014 Toyota Corolla. The Corolla was not occupied at the time of the collision.
The driver of the Caprice, Sharon Ann Lineberger, 59, of Hickory, succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the collision. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
Speed or impairment are not considered contributing factors in the collision.
