Hickory Police investigated a fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian on Wednesday, January 10.
At 6:40 p.m., Michael Allen Squire, 56, of Hickory, was attempting to cross the 2000 block of Catawba Valley Blvd SE and was struck by a 2014 Cadillac SRX traveling west. The driver of the Cadillac, Lillie Malson Sloane, 79, of Newton, called 911 from the scene and reported the crash.
Squire was pronounced dead at the scene by Catawba County EMS. The Hickory Fire Department also responded.
The incident is still under investigation.
