(May 13, 2021 – Hickory, NC) Yesterday at approximately 10:57 P.M., Hickory Police Officers responded to the 53 17th St NW after receiving a 911 call that a female had been shot at the residence. Upon arrival, officers located a 27-year-old black female, India Kynar Rice, inside the residence with a single gunshot wound. Catawba County EMS responded and pronounced Rice dead at the scene.
During the initial investigation it was determined that Rice and several other individuals were inside the residence when an unknown subject or subjects fired multiple rounds into the residence from a passenger vehicle that was traveling on 17th St NW.
