Hickory Man Charged In Connection To Fentanyl Overdose Death

41-year-old Kevin Oneal Carroll of Hickory has been indicted by a Catawba County Grand Jury for death by distribution. The charge is connected to the overdose death of 32-year-old Mariah Brown. Brown died at a residence in Catawba County in September of 2023. The cause of Brown’s death is listed as fentanyl toxicity by the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Carroll was arrested and charged with felony death by distribution, sale of schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling controlled substance. Carroll was incarcerated without bond in the Catawba County Detention Facility. A District Court date was scheduled today (April 19).
