Hickory Man Busted For Trafficking Fentanyl And Meth

ᴄᴀᴛᴀᴡʙᴀ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛʏ, ɴᴄ – On Thursday, August 4, 2025, investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Criminal Investigations Division searched a residence on Greedy Highway as part of an ongoing investigation into a recent overdose death. During the search, investigators seized:

• Approximately 231 grams of methamphetamine
• Approximately 10 grams of fentanyl
• Three firearms
• Assorted drug paraphernalia
• $3,825 in U.S. currency

Christopher David Buchanan

The suspect, Christopher David Buchanan (45), of Hickory, NC, was arrested and charged with:
• Trafficking Methamphetamine
• Trafficking Opium
• Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for a Controlled Substance
• Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
• Simple Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Buchanan was booked into the Catawba County Detention Facility, where he remains held without bond. Buchanan’s next court date is set for September 24th, 2025.
This investigation is ongoing.
