Hickory Man Arrested In Alexander County For Registered Sex-Offender Violation

A Hickory resident who is listed on the sex-offender registry has been arrested in Alexander County.

On Friday, July 17th, 61-year-old Jeffery Scott Canipe was taken into custody after being served a warrant from Catawba County for failure as a registered sex-offender to notify law enforcement of an address change.

Canipe was convicted in Catawba County in 2012 on a charge of indecent liberties with a child. He served 26 months in prison for the offense.

As of Saturday morning, Canipe remained in Alexander County custody.
