Brent Mitchell Downs, age 40, of 8th Street DR NE in Hickory, was arrested on Tuesday by Alexander County Deputies. He’s been charged with assault on a child under the age of 12 and misdemeanor child abuse. Downs is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a secured bond of $20,000.
