The Sugar Loaf Elementary School Gymnasium construction project officially broke ground this morning. A state grant allows for the $5.3 million in lottery proceeds that must be spent on building construction or upgrades. The county commission agreed in June to contribute the matching funds expected by the state for such projects by chipping in $265,048. The construction company JM Cope hopes to be finished by summer of 2024.
