Former Wilkes County Teacher Enters Plea On Series Of Charges

A former North Wilkes High School teacher has been sentenced after pleading guilty to several charges

David Lee Gregory pleaded guilty to eight counts of misdemeanor cyberstalking, eight counts of misdemeanor disseminating harmful material to minors, and two counts of felony disseminating obscenity to minors under the age of 16.

Officials said these offenses occurred between December 2005 and July 2012. As part of Gregory’s plea, he formally forfeited his teaching license and agreed to never apply for a teaching position for the rest of his life.

He also agreed to never seek a coaching job at a school for the rest of his life. Officials said Gregory’s charges were consolidated into two consecutive felony judgments of six to eight months each, which were suspended. Gregory will also have supervised probation for 30 months.

He turned himself in to authorities on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Gregory had been employed with Wilkes County Schools as an exceptional children’s teacher and coach since 2005. He was assigned to both North Wilkes Middle School and North Wilkes High.
