A former Taylorsville resident died this morning in a tragic fire in Surry County. 22-year-old Mikaila Cheyenne Moses was one of three to die in an early morning fire in Dobson. Moses was a former student at Alexander Central High School.
Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 3am. Neighbors reported hearing explosions. Two others died in the fire, 19-year-old Katherine Woods of Dobson and Ryan Gwyn, age 20.
The Surry County Fire Marshall’s Office and Dobson police are investigating the cause of the fire.
