
Kyle Lee Setzer
Kyle Lee Setzer, age 62 of Hickory, was the former owner of Max’s Mexican Eatery. He’s facing 52 counts of sex crimes involving minors, according to court documents.
According to published reports the charges include 16 counts of indecent liberties with a child, 16 counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and 10 counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Hickory Police arrested Setzer following an investigation that dates back to 2021. Setzer was taken into custody on November 3rd by HPD.
Setzer was the owner of Max’s Mexican Eatery in Hickory when the investigation began. The once popular restaurant was located on Highway 127. It closed in 2022.
According to a report in the Hickory Dauly Record, in September and October of 2020, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received three tips regarding child pornography.
Setzer is scheduled to appear in Catawba County District Court on Nov. 27.
His bond has been set at $455,000.
