Former Alexander County Manager Accepts Position In Caldwell County

The Caldwell County Board of Commissioners has announced the appointment of Shane Fox as the county’s new manager, effective December 1. Fox brings a depth of experience spanning executive leadership, financial management, and regional collaboration across North Carolina.

Mr. Fox joins Caldwell County, having most recently served as the Town Manager for Blowing Rock, where he was responsible for leading daily operations and executing the town council’s strategic vision. Prior to this, he served as County Manager for Alexander County. he served in that position for less than a year before returning to Blowing Rock as Town Manager.

His career includes nearly 15 years as a governmental auditor, followed by executive roles as CFO and Deputy County Manager in Cleveland County, and serving as the Executive Director for the High Country Council of Governments (COG), where he coordinated regional planning, economic development, and resource sharing across multiple jurisdictions.

A native of Caldwell County, Mr. Fox is joined by his wife, Jennifer, who is also a Caldwell County native, and their three children: Ryan (married to Abby), Caroline, and Owen. Shane grew up in the Dudley Shoals community and is a proud alumnus of South Caldwell High School, Caldwell Community College and Appalachian State University.

Mr. Fox is eager to begin his work with the community and staff. “I am honored and excited to return home and serve the residents of Caldwell County,” said Fox. “There is no greater honor than public service, and the opportunity to lead the community that raised me is truly a privilege.”
