Former Alexander County Chief Deputy Tod Jones Passes

A former Alexander County Chief Deputy has died unexpectedly.

Alvin Tod Jones, fondly known as “Tod” was a Taylorsville Police Officer from 1986 to 1988. Jones joined the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office in 1988. He rose through the ranks as a Deputy, Detective and Chief Deputy. He retired in 2019.

Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell said on Wednesday, “I’m so sad, Tod was a buddy. We worked side by side for many years. I’m having a tough time accepting he’s gone.”

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 23rd from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service in Taylorsville. A private service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be with the family.

Tod Jones was 57.
