An Alexander County home was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning.
Firefighters from Vashti, Hiddenite and Central Fire District of Iredell County were called to 146 Skyview Hill DR at 4:40 am. The home is in Alexander County, but has a Union Grove address and within sight of the Iredell County line. The structure was fully involved in flames when the first units arrived.
The occupant of the dwelling was able to escape the flames.
Initially, it appears the blaze started when a candle ignited the curtains in a bathroom.
