MORGANTON: Ninety people have been displaced after a fire at a rehab center in Morganton Sunday afternoon, according to the Morganton Department of Public Safety.
Crews were called to the Grace Heights Rehabilitation Center on Foothills Drive around 12:50 pm. There was a significant fire inside the building and firefighters were able to perform suppression efforts. The fire was brought under control and extinguished.
There were no injuries to patients or firefighters from the fire, according to the Morganton Department of Public Safety.
All critical care patients were transported to UNC health campuses in Valdese, Caldwell County and Morganton. Following additional assessments, several patients were transported to area hospitals for further evaluation for heat-related illness and smoke inhalation.
