A woman was killed in a Thursday morning fire in Conover.
71-year old Beverly Register died of apparent smoke inhalation while asleep at her home on Water Wheel Drive.
The dwelling was destroyed by the blaze that is likely to have started when a teapot was left on the stove with the burner on according to the Catawba County Fire Marshall’s Office.
