Fatal Fire In Wilkes County

One person was killed in a fire early Friday morning in Wilkes County.

Wilkes County 911 got a call shortly before 2am about a structure fire on Eller Road in the Purlear Community.

Millers Creek Fire Department along with the Cricket Fire Department, Champion Fire Department, and Wilkes County EMS all responded to the scene.

One victim was found dead in the burned structure. Their name has not been released.

The investigation is continuing by the Wilkes County Fire Marshal’s Office, Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations.
