Duncan Named Warden At Wilkes Correctional Center

Jeffrey Duncan has been appointed as the new warden of Wilkes Correctional Center in North Wilkesboro.

A 20-year veteran of the state’s adult correctional system, Duncan most recently served as an associate warden at Alexander Correctional Institution in Taylorsville.

Duncan began at Alexander CI as a correctional officer in 2004. He remained there as he rose through the ranks — sergeant in 2007, assistant unit manager in 2011, lieutenant in 2012, unit manager in 2013, captain in 2015 and associate warden in 2020.

He holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Wilkes Community College. He is a graduate of the Warden’s Exchange Program and is a member of the U.S. Deputy Wardens Association.
