On Tuesday, March 17th The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, along with the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal, and North Carolina Department of Insurance, responded to investigate a fatal fire at 38 Royal Russell Road in Taylorsville.
The call was initially reported as a welfare check at the residence. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a deceased individual inside the home, along with evidence indicating that a fire had occurred. There were no visible flames or exterior signs of fire when Deputies arrived on scene. At this point in the investigation, there is no signs of foul-play.
The victim has been identified as Sally Marshall Lackey, 67, of Taylorsville.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
