Alexander County Animal Services is hosting Helping Hounds Without Houses on December 8th 2018 at 1:00pm at the Alexander County Animal Shelter. We are currently collecting supplies to construct basic dog houses. Our goal is to have enough supplies to build 20 houses to help families in our community be able to provide a warm sheltering environment from the harsh weather this winter may bring. All supplies you wish to donate can be brought to the shelter up until 12/3/2018 or we may even be able to arrange pick up. No donation is too small! You can donate left over materials from a recent remodel or a box of screws/nails. We greatly appreciate your donations and thank you for helping us provide a dry sheltered place for Alexander County’s fur babies, whose families wish to have a safe, warm place for their dog to sleep but may be financially unable to provide a dog house. Also keep in mind if you have a dog house you no longer need, you can donate those as well. Please join us on the 8th to enjoy community fellowship with your Alexander County neighbors. Houses will be constructed and painted on site. Light snacks and refreshments along with a warming station will be provided. If you would like to help or have questions, please call the shelter 828-632-1199
