Cougars Suffer Meltdown And Lose To South Iredell

Taylorsville: South Iredell rallied from down 41-19 with 8 minutes left and down 44-26 with 3:47 to stun Alexander Central Friday night.

Vikings QB Tristan Cowan was 22-35 for 425 yards passing and 7 touchdowns. South receiver Brody Hunt hauled-in 12 passes covering 309 yards and 4 scores.

Alexander Central rushed for 322 yards led by Sawyer Chapman Mays with 132 yards on 27 carries and a touchdown. AC quarterback Colton Pierce, in his first varsity start was 6-10 for 91 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions.

31 penalties were accepted by the two teams with South being flagged for 16 covering 126 yards.

South’s explosion resulted in 36 points in the 4th quarter. They improve to 2-3 while the Cougars slide to 1-4.

Both teams are idle next Friday.
