Alexander Central coach Butch Carter is “hoping for the best” when it comes to the status of three starters who were injured in the 57-14 win at South Caldwell Friday night.
Carter said this afternoon that “Right now, I just don’t know about their status” in a phone conversation before the start of practice. Fullback Devon Weiss sustained a rib injury and missed the final three quarters, linebacker Lyndon Strickland suffered an injured shoulder, and linebacker Trey Lackey suffered a sprained ankle. All three did not return to action after being injured.
Carter said that “we will just wait and see, we have a great trainer in Stacy Davis and I’ll get with her today at practice and we’ll go from there.”
The Cougars won the Northwestern Conference Championship with the win over South Caldwell Friday and will host Cuthbertson in Round 1 of the 3AA State Playoffs Friday night at Cougar Stadium.
We will continue to update this story throughout the week and will be providing information on the game on the Radio and online.
