Conover School Sustains Damage In Saturday Fire

Firefighters in Conover responded to a fire at a school on Saturday. Multiple agencies assisted in fighting the blaze.

Shortly after 3 pm, the Conover Fire Department was dispatched to a fire alarm activation at Concordia Day School on 5th Avenue SE. Upon arrival, firefighters began searching the building and found an active fire. The fire was quickly brought under control, preventing additional damage.

One classroom was heavily damaged and adjoining areas sustained smoke damage. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The scene was later cleared and turned over to school administrators. The City of Conover Fire Marshal is investigating to determine a cause of the blaze.

Multiple agencies assisted the Conover Fire Department including the Newton, Claremont, Oxford and Hickory Fire Departments.
