David Matthew Townsend, age 48 of Conover, was arrested on Monday by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with felony second-degree forcible sex-offense and sexual battery. Townsend is being held in the Catawba County Jail under a secured bond of $300,000. An initial court appearance is set for today in Newton.
