Taylorsville: Watauga beat Alexander Central in a back and forth battle Tuesday night. The Lady Pioneers were led by Kate Sears who had 14 points and 16 rebounds. The visitors outscored the Lady Cougars by a single point in each quarter. Meredith Wike led AC with 20 points and Faith Burch added 13 points and 13 boards. Watauga (8-4, 2-0) outpaced Alexander Central (10-5,1-1) from three-point land 24-6.

Junior Jayon Connor continued his standout season with 39 points and led the Cougars to a big win over the visitors from Boone. Connor went 14 of 26 from the field, 2 of 8 from distance and 9 of 13 at the free-throw line. Point guard Jaheim Redmond added 14 points and 7 assists. Garison Millsaps pulled down 11 rebounds. The game featured 8 ties and 4 lead changes. Cade Keller led Watauga (8-5, 0-2) with 15 points. With the win ACHS improves to 8-7 overall and 2-0 in the Northwestern Conference.
