Child Killed, Father Charged In Statesville Accident

A child was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Statesville and his father has been arrested.

3-year old Caliu Alexis Alehandro was pronounced dead at the scene of the mishap on East Broad Street. The child not in any type of restraint system according to Statesville Police. The mother of the child was a passenger and sustained minor injuries.

The crash was reported around 1:45 am.

24-year old Caliu Axian has been charged with driving while impaired and felony death by motor vehicle. He is being held in the Iredell County Detention Center under a secured bond of $500,000.
