ᴄᴀᴛᴀᴡʙᴀ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛʏ, ɴᴄ- On Monday, July 13, at approximately 9:12 p.m., Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol deputies responded to a residence on High Ridge Circle for a reported drowning involving a two (2) year old child. Catawba County EMS and the Maiden Police Department also responded to the scene. Despite life-saving efforts, the child was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following the initial response, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the residence and initiated an investigation into the child’s death. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the initial call.
This investigation remains ongoing.
