Catawba County Man Will Face Death Penalty If Convicted

May 21, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

Terrell Eugene Giddens

Catawba County Prosecutors say they are seeking the death penalty for a man accused of killing a father in front of his children in Catawba County.

75-year-old Terrell Eugene Giddens of Sherills Ford allegedly shot Jeffery Guida during a bout of road rage in October 2024. After he shot Guida, Giddens then reportedly turned his rifle on the truck Guida was driving and pulled the trigger with Guida’s three kids inside. None of the three children, ages 13,11 and 2-years-old were hurt.

Following the incident, Giddens is reported to have driven away. He was later arrested by Catawba County Deputies at his home and charged with the murder of Guida and attempted murder of his children.

Giddens has been denied bond multiple times and remains in the Catawba County Detention Center.

The next court date in the case is set for October.
