Catawba County Man Killed In Tuesday Evening Accident

Catawba – On Tuesday, February 10th, at approximately 08:30 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Catawba County on NC 10 near Robert Rufty Lane. A 2009 Subaru Forester 2.5x was traveling west on NC 10, ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver of the Subaru, Charles Franklin McCullough, 69, of Claremont, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The initial investigation does not indicate speed or impairment to be contributing factors in the collision. The driver Charles McCullough was not wearing a seat belt. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately 2 hours.
