Catawba County Man Jailed For Violation Of Registered Sex-Offender Status

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office arrested 56-year-old Steven Lee Bell of East Ridge DR., Conover, on Tuesday and charged him with two-counts of felony high-risk sex-offender online and felony fail to register as a registered sex-offender. The charges stem from alleged online activity which is prohibited based on the suspects registered-sex-offender status. He’s being held in the Catawba County Detention Center under a secured bond of $150,000.

Bell has a Pennsylvania conviction from 2005 for attempted aggravated rape involving a 13-year-old victim. He served nearly six years in prison.
