Catawba County Man Arrested On Major Drug Counts

On Tuesday, June 18th, investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Group executed a search warrant at a residence on Alan D Good Ln in Conover.

Investigators were assisted by officers with NC Probation and Parole and the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections Special Operations and Intelligence Unit.

During this search, investigators and officers located and seized 25.5 grams of methamphetamine, 51.6 grams of MDMA, five firearms and drug paraphernalia from this residence.

An occupant of this residence, Xavier Latrell Smith, was arrested and has been charged with Trafficking in a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, Maintaining a Dwelling to Manufacture Sell or Deliver a Controlled Substance, five counts of Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Smith, 32, received a $700,000 secured bond and had a first appearance on Wednesday in Catawba County District Court.
