Catawba County Duo Facing Felony Drug Trafficking Charges

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman and a man from Claremont on felony drug charges Thursday evening.

39-year old Ashley Marie Hardee is charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession of marijuana and felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling or place for controlled substance.

20-year old Kaleb Scott Smith is charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, felony possession of marijuana and felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling or place for controlled substance.

Both suspects are being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with secured bonds of $100,000 each. Hardee and Smith are scheduled to make court appearances today in Newton.
