Lenior– On Sunday, September 8, at approximately 4:10 a.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Caldwell County on Blue Creek Road near Grandin Road. A 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 was traveling west on Blue Creek Road, when the driver lost control, crossed the center line, drove off the left side of the road, and struck a tree.
The driver, Zachary Cayden Hatton, 23, of Lenior, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The initial investigation does not indicate speed or alcohol to be contributing circumstances in the collision. During the on-scene investigation, Blue Creek Road was closed in the area for approximately three hours.
