Burke County Sheriff’s Office Release Photo Of Suspect Charged With Disposal Of Body

All Crimestoppers tips are anonymous, and anyone with information leading to an arrest may receive a cash reward.

On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office regarding a missing person case. According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, the missing person, Anthony John Jaworsky of Catawba County, was last seen by his family in the Conover area on July 13, 2021. Jaworsky’s vehicle had been located along I-40 in Iredell County by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol shortly after Jaworsky had been reported missing.

Burke County and Catawba County Investigators along with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation served a search warrant at 3584 Curley’s Fish Camp Road, Hildebran. During the search, evidence was located leading to an arrest warrant being issued for Mark Anthony Ortiz of Hickory, W/M, DOB: 1/23/1999, for Felonious Disposal of a Body, pursuant to G.S. 14-401.22(E), and Felonious Obstruction of Justice.

As of this date, Ortiz has not been arrested. The investigation is on-going and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
