The North Carolina Highway Patrol has confirmed that a tractor-trailer rig overturned on the highway 181 in County around 8am on Saturday.
An estimated 40,000 pounds of potatoes spilled onto the roadway and down the mountainside.
The southbound lane of the highway is closed as troopers investigate the area near Brown Mountain Beach Road.
No injuries were reported.
