**Breaking News** Taylorsville Man Charged With Statutory Rape

Following an investigation by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, a Taylorsville man has been charged with statutory rape.

21-year old Darion Omar Campbell was taken into custody this morning by deputies and charged with first-degree statutory rape, statutory sex offense with the child under the age of 15, and felony incest with a child under the age of 13.

A secured bond of $1.5 million was set. Campbell is scheduled for a Tuesday, January 19th court appearance.

Records indicate that Campbell was charged with assault on a female, communicating threats, and damage to personal property in November by authorities in Burke County.
