On May 12th, 2024 the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office received information of a wanted person at 145 Dusty Rd in Taylorsville. The individual had five warrants for their arrest. Officers arrived at 145 Dusty Rd. at 9:58 PM and the wanted individual was outside of the residence. Officers began giving them verbal commands. The individual fled on foot from the Officers. During the chase, one of the Officers was able to catch the individual and a fight ensued. The individual fired a handgun at the Officer. The Officer returned fire, killing the individual. No names will be released at this time. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was called in to investigate the Officer involved shooting. The officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave.
