A 14-year old female has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred on Wednesday in Alexander County. County Sheriff Chris Bowman released the following statement this afternoon.
“A Juvenile Court Counselor filed charges of Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill on the juvenile.”
39-year-old Donald McKinney continues to receive treatment at a regional medical facility. He was stabbed multiple times in the chest and upper torso at his home off Wood Road on Wednesday afternoon. The weapon used was a large pocket-knife. Officers with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and Taylorsville Police responded along with Alexander County EMS and Rescue. McKinney was airlifted to the Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte. The female had fled the scene into a wooded area according to a witness. She was captured following a search by officers. McKinney and the juvenile were neighbors.
The Juvenile is in custody of the state at this time. She is serving an involuntary commitment and is being evaluated according to Sheriff Bowman.
