On Saturday, January 6th Deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a domestic dispute at a residence in the 4000 block of Deal Road in Claremont. When deputies arrived they encountered an adult male armed with a firearm. The subject recessed back into the residence when approached by Deputies.
As additional Deputies arrived they confirmed that the person initially encountered stated to a family member that an adult female was deceased inside the residence. With that information Deputies and Officers with Catawba County’s Special Tactics and Response (STAR) Team made immediate entry into the residence.
It was confirmed that an adult female was deceased inside the home. The adult male initially encountered by law enforcement was treated at a local hospital for injuries he received prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
